Concordia Lutheran High School has been providing Christ-centered educational excellence since 1935. We are a 9-12 school that offers 15 distinct academic programs (including 16 AP classes, 8 Dual Credit classes, and 7 Honors classes). We offer 21 different sports for boys and girls, and more than 20 different clubs and activities, including a JROTC leadership program. We pride ourselves on small class sizes and a family atmosphere!

Cadets Success at DECA State

The CLHS DECA team competed in Indianapolis on March 4th. There were over 1,800 DECA students from across the state competing in close to 50 different business events.

Concordia Lutheran High School would like to congratulate two outstanding scholars from the class of 2023. Miss Keller Whicker has been named the Valedictorian of the Class of 2023 and Mr. Cameron Cage has been named the Salutatorian.

CLHS Good Citizen Award Nominee

Congratulations to senior Troy Zimmerman for being Concordia's nomination for the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen Award. Troy attended a recognition ceremony on Friday, January 20. The Daughters of the American Revolution created the DAR Good Citizen contest in 1934. The competition was developed to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship in high school students and is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private secondary schools. Participating high schools in Allen County currently include Bishop Dwenger, Bishop Luers, Blackhawk Christian, Canterbury, Carroll, Concordia, Heritage, Homestead, Leo, New Haven, North Side, Northrop, Snider, South Side, Wayne, and Woodlan.

CLHS Maroon Standard - Wins Indiana Vocal Jazz State Runner-Up Honors

The 'Maroon Standard' Chamber Choir had their best performance of the year at the Jazz State Finals on Friday, March 17! As one of 8 selected state finalists, they performed a 3 song set of: Words, Somewhere over the Rainbow, and The Song is You for a panel of nationally recognized musician adjudicators. They were one of the top performances of the evening earning a standing ovation, many professional compliments and ultimately recognized as the 2023 State Runner- Up in Vocal Jazz!

CLHS Places 3rd at Tech Fest

TechFest is a community event for high school students, sponsored in a cooperative effort by the Northeastern Indiana Technology Coalition and local industry partners. The goal of TechFest is to promote Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics curriculum (S.T.E.M.) to demonstrate their place in local organizations and their respective fields.

CLHS held its annual High School Art Show during Fine Arts Week this month. The top prize this year was awarded to senior Max Park for his film, "Turtles and Tortugas." See that video here. Here are the full results for the high school category:

CLHS Army JROTC Rifle Team Defeats Fork Union Military Academy

Shooting their highest score of the season Concordia Lutheran AJROTC defeated Fork Union Military Academy 944.8 to 923.1 in the 2023 National Air Rifle New Shooter League. Their second win in a row. Concordia Lutheran AJROTC was led by Maddy Meyer who shot a 249.8. The remaining contributing members were Sam David, Kade Green, and Brady Eminhiser. They are from Ft. Wayne, IN, and are coached by Alan Conrad.

Three Freshmen Inducted into Concordia's Honors Academy for the Spring

Concordia Lutheran High School is welcoming its newest students to the Honors Academy this spring. These new freshmen are Julia Cobb, Kathryn Crook, and Adelyn Brown. Students are able to join the second semester of their freshmen year based on their PSAT scores. These freshmen are joining the 10 other freshmen inducted this past fall.

Cadet Named Rifle Regional Champion

CLHS Junior Piper Wentland is the Regional Champion in the All-Army National Rifle Championship, scoring 1281.9 out of 1309. Piper is anticipating an invite to go head-to-head against the nation's top marksmen. Congratulations on aiming for success and being time on target Piper. Well done, Cadet!

CLHS Senior Receives Top Honor

Congratulations to senior Max Park who received the Distinguished Scholar Award to The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). The Distinguished Scholar Award is one of the top scholarships at SCAD and recognizes students based on academics, honors, and leadership.

CLHS Honor Roll and Honorable Mention

CLHS students have been named to the Honor Roll and Honorable Mention list for Fall 2022. Honor Roll: To be eligible for Honor Roll, a student must carry a minimum of four full-credit classes and have a *grade point average of 3.66 or above with no grade lower than a "C". Honorable Mention: To be eligible for Honorable Mention, a student must carry a minimum of four full-credit classes and have a *grade point average of 3.00 or above with no grade lower than a "C" nor more than one "C". Honor Roll and Honorable Mention are awarded at the end of each semester.

9 CLHS Students Make All-State Choir

Students from across the state auditioned for this opportunity in the fall. Judges selected the top singers in each voice part from 16 regions of Indiana. The best singers then received music and rehearsed regionally to prepare. The All-State choir experience is two days of rehearsing, learning, and growing culminating in a concert experience as part of the statewide IMEA conference. Renowned choral clinician, Dr. Brad Holmes, from Millikin University will direct the All-State choir.

This prestigious performing ensemble works with an esteemed guest clinician from around the country and gives students an opportunity to play with other high-caliber students throughout the state.

CLHS Results from DECA District Competition January 2023

There were 28 different competitive events of which CLHS students entered 14 of them. Of those 28 events, CLHS brought home the following: 5 1st place finishes 7 2nd place finishes 5 3rd place finishes 5 4th place finishes 3 5th place finishes 2 6th place finshes The top 6 placements from each event advance to DECA State Competition. March 5 - 7, 2023 in Indianapolis.

CLHS Students Recognized by National Merit Program

Congratulations to five of our Concordia students who have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship program. Three of our seniors, Cameron Cage, Jacob Mann, and Keller Whicker, were named Commended Students for their exceptional academic promise which was demonstrated through the PSAT. Juniors Jakiya Johnson and Steven Essex were recognized with the National African American Recognition Award for being in the Top 10 percent of the PSAT.

CLHS Honors Academy Inducts 10 New Freshmen This Year

Begun in 2014, the Honors Academy promotes exceptional academics, leadership, and community service among Concordia students by challenging and encouraging students to the next level of their academic success. After eight years, the program has graduated 44 students, and there are 36 students currently in the the program, including 10 new freshmen.

Concordia Lutheran High School regularly publishes achievements about students and their accomplishments through software called "Merit." When your child is recognized, Merit will ensure you are notified! We send you an email with a link to the achievement your student was honored in so you can read all about the great things your student is accomplishing! And then you can share those accomplishments on your social media with friends and family! This is your introductory email for the 2022-23 school year for this program.

DISTINGUISHED STUDENTS CHOSEN

Allen County Non-Public Schools have each school select two students to represent their school as the Distinguished Students. Each school sets its own criteria. The Non-Public schools are area Catholic, Lutheran & Christian Schools. The ACNPSA Distinguished Students Award Ceremony was held earlier this week. A breakfast ceremony was held to honor each of the distinguished students. Each student was recognized with a certificate and a medal.

Cadets Win JA Essay Contest

This year, Junior Achievement received funding through the Schwab Foundation in order to offer an essay contest for students currently enrolled in the JA Career Success and/or JA Career Speaker Series programs. This essay contest allows each participating student an opportunity to research and write an essay about a career that interests him or her. Dontrell Johnson wrote about wanting to be a psychologist and Wyatt Raney wrote about wanting to be a pilot. Each will each receive a $100 cash prize and a job shadow experience based on the career of interest as written in their winning essay. Congrats to both Dontrell and Wyatt!

Barnabas Award Winner Announced

Ten students in all were nominated for this award by the student body and faculty and staff. A committee of four faculty members and four seniors made the final selection. Ten seniors were nominated: Ben Corley, Rachel Geller, Ben Gerig, Michael Habegger, Ellie Hellinger, Lainey Linnemeier, Anna Maxson, Katie McKay, and Hope Stephenson. Senior Michael Habegger was honored with the Richard W. Moellering Senior Barnabas Award. Established by the Class of 1986, the award recognizes a senior who exemplifies encouragement and servanthood. Barnabas was a missionary and co-worker of St. Paul. His name means "encourager." His ministry in life was to be of service to his fellow man. One nominator wrote: "Michael has a magnetic personality which helps him instill a sense of community in each group in which he takes part. He is a natural servant, volunteering in any way, and always following through with the commitment he makes."
