Concordia Lutheran High School

HOSA students joined other future health professionals to compete at the State Leadership Conference held April 10 - 12 in Indianapolis. There were 3,500 students who competed at this annual event. Concordia had 16 students compete in 10 events.

Piper Wentland was invited to the 2024 USA Shooting Rifle Junior Olympic Championships in Colorado City, CO. The event ran April 1-6 and out of 178 competitors, she finished an amazing 29th with an aggregate score of 1238.1!

40 Concordia Lutheran HS students were nominated to participate in the American Mathematics Competition on Tuesday, November 14, a nationwide mathematics contest. Congratulations to the following Concordia students who received site awards, indicating they had the top scores among CLHS students: AMC 10 3rd place - Aiden Slattery 1st place -Katrina Fegley 1st place - Hannah Bryan AMC 12 3rd place - Cameryn McConkey 2nd place - Nathan Bryan 1st place - Alex Jones These scores are now submitted for national competition.

The girls and boys CLHS track teams had a big day at the HSR Indoor Small Schools State Track meet this past weekend including a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in Girls Distance Medley Relay: Brylee Crass - 1200m Hannah Clark - 400m Sidney Scheumann - 800m Mallory Weller - 1600m Other notable results include: Mallory Weller - set a new school record and was State Runner Up in the 3200m | Girls 4x800 Relay - State Runners Up | Boys DMR Relay - podium finish in 7th place. Congratulations Cadets!

This past weekend, Piper Wentland traveled to Camp Perry, Oh to compete in the JROTC All Service Air Rifle Championship. After day One, she was in 4th Place and set a JROTC Record in Standing by shooting a 200 with 17 X's. At the end of the second day, she was tied for 1st Place but the Top Shooter had more X's making her Second. The Top 8 finishers competed in the Finals, where Piper finished an amazing 5th Place amongst all 83 Precision Air Rifle athletes. She was the top Army shooter!

Mr. Max Adair has been named the Valedictorian of the Class of 2024 and Miss Alexa (Lexi) Panning has been named the Salutatorian. These two exceptional students have performed exemplarily inside the classroom taking a rigorous course load that was filled with both AP and Honors courses. We commend them for their dedication to excellence and are proud of this prestigious accomplishment.

Congratulations to all of the student art award winners who were announced near the conclusion of Concordia Lutheran High School's Fine Arts Festival. Chris Dawson won the Zollner Art Award, the top CLHS art prize! His photo, "A Cold Winter's Night", will be purchased by CLHS for $200 and be placed on display in the main hallway of the high school.

Concordia Lutheran High School is welcomes it's freshmen to the Honors Academy. The Honors Academy promotes exceptional academics, leadership and community service among students. Through service opportunities, leadership summits, and college visits, students are given every opportunity to excel in their learning. Begun in 2014, program involves academic rigor and discovery, creative processing and research, mentor directed community service and leadership development as well as student bonding and support.

Congratulations to DECAs participation at Saturdays district completion. ***There were 25 different competitive events of which CLHS students entered 18 of them. CLHS brought home the following: 6 1 st place finishes 9 2 nd place finishes 3 3 rd place finishes 3 4 th place finishes 2 5 th place finishes The top 5 placements from each event advance to DECA State Competition. March 3 - 5, 2024 in Indianapolis.

Congratulations to senior Troy Zimmerman for being Concordia's nomination for the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen Award. Troy attended a recognition ceremony on Friday, January 20. The Daughters of the American Revolution created the DAR Good Citizen contest in 1934. The competition was developed to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship in high school students and is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private secondary schools. Participating high schools in Allen County currently include Bishop Dwenger, Bishop Luers, Blackhawk Christian, Canterbury, Carroll, Concordia, Heritage, Homestead, Leo, New Haven, North Side, Northrop, Snider, South Side, Wayne, and Woodlan.

ISSMA STATE SOLO & ENSEMBLE RESULTS! The Concordia Lutheran High School choral department participated in the vocal ISSMA Solo & Ensemble State contest held at Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis on Saturday, February 18.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top twenty percent of undergraduate students within each division for the spring semester 2023 have been named to the Dean's list recognizing academic excellence.

Senior Konrot Chan-Manoikrot was at the Indiana Statehouse for "Youth Day at the Statehouse" on January 18 as a representative of the Allen County Voice Core Leadership Team. Konrot has been actively engaged with the county wide group, representing our school for a few years.

The CLHS DECA team competed in Indianapolis on March 4th. There were over 1,800 DECA students from across the state competing in close to 50 different business events.

The 'Maroon Standard' Chamber Choir had their best performance of the year at the Jazz State Finals on Friday, March 17! As one of 8 selected state finalists, they performed a 3 song set of: Words, Somewhere over the Rainbow, and The Song is You for a panel of nationally recognized musician adjudicators. They were one of the top performances of the evening earning a standing ovation, many professional compliments and ultimately recognized as the 2023 State Runner- Up in Vocal Jazz!

TechFest is a community event for high school students, sponsored in a cooperative effort by the Northeastern Indiana Technology Coalition and local industry partners. The goal of TechFest is to promote Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics curriculum (S.T.E.M.) to demonstrate their place in local organizations and their respective fields.
