Concordia Lutheran High School has been providing Christ-centered educational excellence since 1935. We are a 9-12 school that offers 15 distinct academic programs (including 16 AP classes, 8 Dual Credit classes, and 7 Honors classes). We offer 21 different sports for boys and girls, and more than 20 different clubs and activities, including a JROTC leadership program. We pride ourselves on small class sizes and a family atmosphere!

CLHS Girls Tennis Named SAC Champs

Congratulations to the Concordia Girls Tennis Team who are the 2022 ALL-SAC Champions. Concordia was able to defeat Dwenger in a close match of 3-2 which was tied 2-2 before Alyssa Linder and Katie Jones came back to win in a close 3rd set to win the match. Emma Jansing (#2 singles) and Alyssa Linder/Katie Jones (#2 doubles) went undefeated in conference play. The Lady Cadets have also beaten some top schools in the area including Carroll, Dekalb, Canterbury, and Leo. According to Coach Beier, "these wins were with different players getting the decisive 3rd point and was certainly a team effort not just 3-4 players being the key."

Barnabas Award Winner Announced

Senior Michael Habegger was honored today with the Richard W. Moellering Senior Barnabas Award. Established by the Class of 1986, the award recognizes a senior who exemplifies encouragement and servanthood. Barnabas was a missionary and co-worker of St. Paul. His name means "encourager." His ministry in life was to be of service to his fellow man. One nominator wrote: "Michael has a magnetic personality which helps him instill a sense of community in each group in which he takes part. He is a natural servant, volunteering in any way, and always following through with the commitment he makes." Ten students in all were nominated for this award by the student body and faculty and staff. A committee of four faculty members and four seniors made the final selection. Habegger was nominated along with nine other seniors, Ben Corley, Rachel Geller, Ben Gerig, Ellie Hellinger, Lainey Linnemeier, Anna Maxson, Katie McKay, and Hope Stephenson.

Scholarship - 2022 May 19

Lawrence A. Ackerman Scholarship Awarded

The Lawrence A. Ackerman Scholarship from the Fort Wayne Zoological Society was established "To encourage and assist worthy students pursuing a career in the stewardship of animals." This scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior based on the applicant's character, commitment to the stewardship of animals, financial need, scholastic achievement, and promise. Graduating high school seniors in Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley counties in Indiana are eligible to apply. A one-time $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student each year. CLHS Senior, Mckenzi Humbert, was awarded this scholarship.

IHSCGA Regional A State Championship Winners

Concordia had four students participate with the Snider HS Winter Color Guard this past winter season. The combined Color Guard knocked it out of the park and won the IHSCGA Regional A State Championship and were undefeated throughout the competition season. (Indiana High School Color Guard Association) The show was titled, "Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust." CLHS students competing were senior Jordan Gilbert, junior Devin Hairston, freshman Sarah Snyder, and Bethany Kroemer (who attends Concordia grade school). Congrats, students!

Miller Leadership Academy Scholarship Awarded

Congratulations to Dontrell Johnson for receiving the Miller Leadership Academy Scholarship from Ball State University. This scholarship will provide select incoming Ball State freshmen an $11,000 renewable scholarship-plus resources and services that focus on supporting underserved students financially, academically, and holistically. Miller Leadership Academy students will be immersed in co-curricular activities that will help them develop into effective leaders who are supported in every aspect of their undergraduate experience. The programming will include a summer bridge program, the Miller College's Living Learning Community, leadership development, professional development, mentoring, academic and holistic support services, immersive learning projects, and service opportunities.

Congratulations to our Fine Arts Award Recipients

Congratulations to these students who were recognized during our Fine Arts Festival on March 27. Students were awarded based on categories. Our top prize, the Zollner Art Award, was given to senior Wyatt Chesebrough, "Self Sabotage."

Student Recognized for His Service at Lutheran Life Villages

Lutheran Life Villages (LLV), a faith-based, non-profit senior living community, announced today that Ashley Reed, Piper Trail Wellness Coordinator, and Alex Dahnke, Concordia Lutheran High School Senior and LLV Business Office Intern, were named award winners at the Leading Age Indiana Spring Conference. LeadingAge Indiana is an association representing not-for-profit services and providers for the elderly. Ashley Reed, a 2002 Concordia graduate, was named the winner of the Emerging Leader Award and Alex Dahnke the Community Volunteer Award. All members of Leading Age Indiana are encouraged to submit nominations and the winners are chosen by an award panel. Both individuals have made an impact in the lives of the people that Lutheran Life Villages serves.

CLHS Martin Fischer Memorial Scholarship Awarded

Members of the senior class were recognized Sunday, May 1st for their academic accomplishments. The Martin Fischer Memorial Scholarship is a $32,000 scholarship over four years, which is awarded to an outstanding senior who plans to enter a humanities-related field. The scholarship was awarded to Isaiah Tietz.

Marching Band Drum Majors Announced

The Marching Band held its auditions recently for Drum Major for next year, and 11 students tried out. They are excited to announce that David Millman and Lydia O'Dell have been selected as the 2022 Drum Majors for the Marching Cadets! Great job to all students who auditioned.

CLHS 2022 Valedictorian Announced

Mr. Daniel Adair Named CLHS Class of 2022 Valedictorian Mr. Daniel Adair, son of Mark and Jennifer Adair, plans to attend Purdue University and study Biomedical Engineering. He attends Emmanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Emmanuel-St. Michael Lutheran School. He has been involved in Cross Country, Track, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Foreign Language Club, Honors Academy, Koinonia Leader, Latin Club, and National Honor Society during his time at CLHS. What he loves about Concordia is "how teachers and coaches care about students inside and outside of their classroom or activity."

CLHS Gallmeier Scholarship Awarded

Members of the senior class were recognized Sunday, May 1st for their academic accomplishments. The Gallmeier Scholarship is given annually to a senior who will attend a Lutheran college or university to prepare for a career in Christian education or pastoral ministry. The scholarship awards $1,500 each year. The scholarship was awarded to Elizabeth Gatchell.

2022 CLHS Salutatorian Named

Nolan Labahn, son of John and Kristen Labahn, was named CLHS 2022 Salutatorian. He plans to attend Indiana University - Kelley School of Business and study Finance. He attends Emmanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Emmanuel-St. Michael Lutheran School. At Concordia, he has been involved in Basketball (Boys), Soccer (Boys), GAPP (German American Exchange Program), German Club, Honors Academy, Koinonia Leader, and National Honor Society. At Concordia, he loves "the diversity of classes and small class sizes, as well as the integration of Christ into everything we do."

Nathan Zeckzer Named Outstanding Soloist at the ISSMA State Jazz Finals

Congratulations to the CLHS Chamber Choir! They were named the 2022 Honor Choir - State Champions in the 6th Annual Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) State Jazz Finals on Friday, March 18 at Franklin Central High School. This highly prestigious event featured the finest eight vocal jazz ensembles in the state of Indiana as determined by their State Qualifying round scores from four regional sites. Concordia's group was recognized with the following top honors/Award: Outstanding Soloist - Nathan Zeckzer 2022 Best Bass Section 2022 Honor Choir - State Champions!

Six high school seniors who took part in the annual Summit Scholars Competition will be attending Purdue University Fort Wayne this fall as members of the 2022-23 class of Chapman Scholars. These full, four-year scholarships are awarded entirely on academic merit and community involvement.

JROTC Robotics Team Earns Back-To-Back World Championships

Concordia Lutheran High School's JROTC Robotics team took home the Excellence Award for the second year in a row at the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championships. This is the top award in the competition. The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX Robotics competition. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a high-quality robotics program. The competition was held in Texas last week. The judges evaluated the students and their robots on their skills and knowledge of engineering.
